Geography of Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar is located between 85° 44' E and 85° 55' E longitude, and 20° 12' N and 20° 25' N latitude in Khordha district of Odisha. It is situated in the eastern coastal plains, along the axis of the Eastern Ghats mountains. The city has an average altitude of 45 m (148 ft) above sea level, and lies south west of the Mahanadi River, within its delta and forms the northern boundary of Bhubaneswar metropolitan area. The city is bounded by the Daya River to the south and the Kuakhai River to the east; the Chandaka Wildlife Sanctuary and Nandankanan Zoo lie in the western and northern parts of Bhubaneswar, respectively. Bhubaneswar is topographically divided into the western uplands and eastern lowlands, with hillocks in the western and northern parts. The Kanjia lake on the northern outskirts, with its rich biodiversity, is a wetland of national importance and helpful for maintaining the city's ecology.....Wikipedia
